Former NFL quarterback Joey Harrington was badly injured when he was struck by an SUV while riding his bike in Oregon on Sunday night.
Fortunately, the 33-year-old's injuries, while quite serious, are not believed to be life-threatening. Reports say he will leave hospital today.
Harrington, a former first round draft pick out of the University of Oregon, broke his collarbone, punctured a lung and lacerated his head.
Police say the SUV struck Harrington from behind around 8:30 p.m. The 26-year-old driver was cited by police for following too closely.
Joey's father said that the former NFL player was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which may well have aided his survival.
Here's wishing him a speedy and full recovery.
