Enrique exit was expected - Pardew
Liverpool have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Spanish defender Jose Enrique.
The 25-year-old left-back joined Newcastle for £6.3m in 2007 but hit out at the club last month on Twitter.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has been looking for a left-back since selling Paul Konchesky to Leicester earlier this summer.
- Stewart Downing (Aston Villa) £20m*
- Jordan Henderson (Sunderland) £16m*
- Charlie Adam (Blackpool) £8.5m*
- Doni (Roma) Free
* - official fee undisclosed
The Reds will now discuss personal terms with the player, who will travel to Liverpool to undergo a medical.
Enrique will become Dalglish's fifth signing of the summer and join Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Doni at Anfield.
He had one year left on his contract at St James' Park and was disciplined by the club last month for criticising the club's transfer policy on his Twitter account.
He said: "The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Seriously, do you think it is the fault of the players? Andy [Carroll], Nobby [Kevin Nolan)] etc etc.
"This club will never again fight to be among the top 6 again with this policy."
Liverpool ended last season with England right-back Glen Johnson playing on the left, while Dalglish also has the injured Fabio Aurelio and Argentina international Emiliano Insua in his squad.
