Former NBA star Jalen Rose and current ESPN analyst was just sentenced to 20 days in jail following his DUI arrest in Michigan this spring.
Rose crashed his car into a ditch, driving along an icy road with a female passenger when he lost control of his vehicle and flipped the car.
When police arrived, Rose agreed to undergo several roadside sobriety tests, but failed and was eventually arrested for DUI on March 11.
No word on when Rose is set to serve his time.
The former NBA star's attorney is absolutely livid over the sentence, which also includes a year of probation, calling it an "abuse of discretion."
"The 20-day jail sentence issued by this Michigan judge is outrageous," Keith Davidson said, "a horrendous example of judicial temperament."
Davidson insists Jalen is a "model citizen who has personally donated millions to charity, established inner city charter schools and a medical center in the Congo, and most importantly, has NO PRIOR criminal record."
Davidson adds, "[Jalen] was the victim of abuse of discretion; lack of proportionality in sentencing; legislating from the bench & instituting illegal minimum mandatory sentences for DUIs in violation of law. "
"Mr. Rose is examining all of his legal options based on today's events."
