Amy Winehouse Toxicology Results: Singer NOT on Drugs at Time of Death

Amy Winehouse's toxicology results have proven she was not on any sort of illegal drugs at the time of her death, according to her family members.

She had been drinking alcohol, however.

Amy's family says officials have not determined if the booze played a role in the soul singer's death. However, the lack of drugs - if true - is a surprise.

Troubled Singer

Amy Winehouse's substance abuse problem has been documented for years.

A rep from Scotland Yard told TMZ that the law enforcement agency has not yet received a copy of Winehouse's toxicology results from the coroner.

Amy was found dead in her London apartment July 23.

Her family swore she was off drugs at the time of her death, and even put out the theory that she died from alcohol withdrawal and/or seizures.

Here's what the Winehouses said in a statement:

"Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities confirm there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death."

"Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death."

"The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process."

"They await the outcome of the inquest in October."
